All Risks, Ltd. is proud to announce that Wes Baker has been named to the Insurance Business America (IBA) Top Specialist Brokers 2020 list for his expertise in Ocean Cargo/Stock Throughput.
According to IBA, this annual award recognizes “specialist brokers who are proven leaders in their field and serve as valuable resources for retail brokers seeking expert insurance advice for their clients’ unique and difficult-to-place risks.” Wes joins Glenn Petersen, specialist in builder’s risk, and Hunter Patten, specialist in challenge course and zip line construction, as All Risks, Ltd. recipients of the award.
As a Florida-based broker living in an area with a large number of import/export business, an ocean cargo/stock throughput specialty is a natural fit for Wes Baker. He was first introduced to this specialty in 2012, a year after he started with All Risks, Ltd. It quickly became apparent to Wes how little understanding there was of what the product actually covered, how it was rated and how it benefits insureds.
Even though ocean cargo is one of the oldest forms of insurance in the world, there are surprisingly few formal educational resources. Wes learned the most from reading the coverage forms and speaking with his underwriters. He made it a priority to become a subject matter expert on ocean cargo insurance and in turn, a better resource for his clients and colleagues.

Every day, Wes is challenged with how to place coverage on risks that could range from a $100M oil drilling platform being moved halfway across the world to highly sensitive military equipment being shipped from one base to another. Each account has its own unique attributes and requires a substantial amount of technical expertise.
Before Wes submits a new risk to his underwriters, he does all of the upfront underwriting and rating himself. He stays in constant communication with his brokers and carrier underwriters and learns from them which classes of business are taking losses and why. He is a broker committed to providing the best customer experience for his agents and securing the best coverage, rates and terms for their insureds.
