All Risks, Ltd. is proud to announce that Hunter Patten has been named to the Insurance Business America (IBA) Top Specialist Brokers 2020 list for his expertise in Challenge Course and Zip Line Construction.
According to IBA, this annual award recognizes “specialist brokers who are proven leaders in their field and serve as valuable resources for retail brokers seeking expert insurance advice for their clients’ unique and difficult-to-place risks.” Hunter joins Wes Baker, specialist in ocean cargo/stock throughput, and Glenn Petersen, specialist in builder’s risk, as All Risks, Ltd. recipients of the award.
As a Casualty broker, Hunter Patten is regularly asked to find coverage for hard-to-place risks. However, when these risks involve people suspended by a harness from a cable over 30 feet high while soaring above treetops and countrysides at speeds up to 35 mph, finding insurance is even more difficult.
Hunter was introduced to challenge course and zip line construction five years ago when his retail agent partner was unable to find coverage for his client. Working closely with his retailer, Hunter has since gained valuable insight from a consumer perspective and expert knowledge of the placement and claims challenges that course builders face. Each risk presents its own unique challenges, from states of operation to prior adverse claims experience.
“Being recognized by IBA as a Top Specialist Broker is a testament to the culture at All Risks, where everyone is empowered to develop great partnerships with talented retail brokers. When the emphasis is on strong partnership, the client always wins.”
Hunter has successfully developed two proprietary programs with two carrier partners specifically for challenge course and zip line construction business. He has worked closely with them to structure the policy forms, rate tiers, retention levels, historical claims history, and premium thresholds. As a result, he is providing the best possible set of terms and conditions to help his retail agents and their insureds be successful in the industry.
Whether it is taking on international projects, or work in tough construction venues, Hunter is constantly adapting to the challenges his clients face in conducting their business. The biggest risk in this industry segment is the potential for frequency of severity. Generally, when claims occur they are quite large and multiple policies will be triggered. Hunter must constantly evaluate the policy forms to ensure they are evolving with the complex nature of the litigation that occurs in this space.
His knowledge of the challenge course and zip line construction business, the policy forms, and the partnership-mentality he maintains with his retail agents and carrier underwriters have made Hunter the top specialist for this class of business.
